ALEX MACKIN DOLAN

Alex Mackin Dolan Biography

Alex Mackin Dolan (b. 1990, Colorado) lives and works in New York. Dolan came to light as avanguard for the thoughtful, depressive turn to the Net Art movement. Rather than celebratedigital culture and its utopian potential, Dolan assumes the disappearance of these— andall—human worlds, and imagines the abandoned remains of our civilization as if through theeyes of an expired, deranged artificial intelligence. Most recently, Dolan’s work recomputes andrefashions the aesthetics and experience of gambling cabinets and slot machines, challengingpost-internet aesthetics, the psychology of the gambling experience, and the interactionbetween fine art, the gallery space, and the viewer. His work has been exhibited internationallyand nationally, including: Serpentine Gallery, London; Swiss Institute, New York; 89Plus curatedby Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist, LUMA Westbau, Zurich; Park Avenue Armory, NewYork; Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Oregon; Plymouth Rock, Zurich; Bedstuy LoveAffair, New York; Karma International, Zurich; MACO, Oaxaca, Mexico, among others.
