Anatjari Tjakamarra (c.1930–1992), a founding Papunya Tula artist from the Gibson Desert region, was known for his minimalist Western Desert compositions depicting Pintupi country around Lake Mackay and helping establish the movement as a major force in contemporary Australian art.
