Through the use of staged photography and mixed media sculpture Andrea Gardner’s work explores an ongoing interest in the complex relationship between humans, animals and the landscape. Her art work draws upon personal experience as well as the current discourse between culture and nature with its accompanying ethical and ecological concerns. An interest in fairytales, Romanticism, “Vanitas” paintings and Utopian idealism also permeates much of her photography and sculpture.
