TextaQueen completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), University of Western Australia, Perth, 1995 and a Certificate II in Arts (Interactive Multimedia), Metro Screen, Sydney in 1998.
TextaQueen’s nude portraits, predominately of women, are executed in the humble and unforgiving ‘texta’ and felt-tip pen on paper. Just as the medium reveals all, so do Texta’s subjects. They are drawn from life, usually in the sitter’s home or bedroom and paired with the use props, transforming a private experience into a performative display that uncovers the subject’s sexuality, secrets and desires.
