Wagner & de Burca’s work focuses on the powerful expressions of “marginal” communities in Brazil and their complex relationship with international and local traditions. In their films, the artists work collaboratively with their subjects, sharing an understanding of the complexities of modern self-representation and awareness.

Among their most notable solo exhibitions are: Swinguerra, the official representation of Brazil at the 58th Venice Biennale (2019), Pérez Art Museum (Miami, 2019), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam, 2019); Museo Jumex (Mexico City, 2019); Art Gallery of York University, AGYU (Toronto, 2018); MOCAD (Detroit, 2017). Among group shows, stand-out their participations on: FRONT International (Cleveland, 2018); Corpo a Corpo, IMS (SãoPaulo, 2017, and Rio de Janeiro, 2018); Berlinale Shorts (Berlin, 2017, 2018 and 2019); Panorama de Arte Brasileira (São Paulo, 2017 and 2013); Prêmio PIPA, MAM (Rio de Janeiro, 2017); Skulptur Projekte (Münster, 2017); Bienal de São Paulo (2016); Histórias da Infância, MASP (São Paulo, 2017).
