Brendan Van Hek was born in Perth in 1968, where he currently lives and works.

Van Hek has completed a number of large-scale urban works and private architectural commissions. These include a foyer sculpture at 401 St Kilda Road, Melbourne, a residential building by Elenberg Fraser and Urbanest, Haymarket, Sydney by Bates Smart. In 2011, Van Hek presented new work in NEW11 at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne and REMIX at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
