Dianne Gall’s work explores her interest in the fragility of the human spirit and the transient nature of life. Utilising the cinematic style of film noir, Dianne portrays scenes of mystery and ambiguity in which her characters, often a femme fatale and leading man, act out their parts as if directly from the silver screen:
‘...often the female appears frightened but she is never out of control, she is the huntress and steers the action. The occasional male stumbles into the dark and shadowy landscape that she occupies but he is usually coming to see her and waits outside her door’.
Dianne's imagery evokes the memory and emotion of past Hollywood glamour and emits a sense of intrigue and the unknown. Each painting captures a moment in time, anticipating events about to unfold.
Dianne Gall graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from the South Australian School of Art in 1985 and has held a number of solo exhibitions in major galleries in Adelaide, Sydney and Perth, as well as participating in many group exhibitions Australia wide. In 2007, Dianne was a finalist in the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award at the Coffs Harbours Harbour Regional Gallery. Collections holding Dianne’s work include Parliament House, Canberra; SimsLockwood Sydney, Stillwell Management Consultants, South Australia; and Artbank.
