Hatice Guleryuz Biography

Hatice Güleryüz (Denizli, 1968) studied at the Dokuz Eylül University, Fine Arts Faculty, Izmir, Turkey, followed by the Willem de Kooning Academy, Piet Zwart Institute, Post Graduate Program, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She got a Degree of Master of Arts from Plymouth University, England, after which she was a researcher at Fine Arts Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Her work has been presented in museums, biennials, galleries, and contemporary art centers throughout the world, including The Human Frames, Werkstatt der Kulturen, Berlin, (2012) and Kunst im Tunnel (KIT), Düsseldorf (2011); Reframing Reality; Glimpses into the Lowave video archive, Museum of Contemporary Art, Roskilde (2010); Macro Testaccio, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome (2010); Dream and Reality, Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern, (2009); Radical Closure, The Art Institute of Chicago (2008) and Berkeley Art Museum, San Francisco (2008); Shared History / Decolonising the Image, W139, Amsterdam (2007); Mnam-Cci Centre Pompidou, Paris (2006), Art without Borders, Armenian Centre for Contemporary Experimental Art, Yerevan (2006); Paranoia, Freud Museum, London (2006); 9th International Istanbul Biennial (2005), Telemar, Cultural Centre, Rio de Janeiro (2005); Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe (2004); Achterland en Achterdocht, Lokaal 01, Breda and Antwerpen (2004); Hurt So Good, Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius (2003) and Prague Biennale (2003).

Hatice Güleryüz lives and works in Los Angeles and Istanbul.
