Irfan Onurmen was born in 1958 in Bursa, Turkey. In 1987, he graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Fine Arts, Painting Division. Some of his selected exhibitions include: “9 Contemporary Turkish Painters”, Brussels, Belgium (2004); “Made in Turkey”, Frankfurt, Germany (2008); “Intersections”, “New Baghdad Museum and Terror Factory”; Thessaloniki Contemporary State Art Museum, Greece (2009); “6 positions in critical art from Istanbul”, Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg , Berlin(2009); “Contemporary Art From Istanbul”, Museo Comunale d'Arte Contemporanea, Polignano a Mare, Italy (2010). His last solo shows were “Gaze” at Pi Artworks Galatasaray, Istanbul (2011), “Autopsy” at Pi Artworks Tophane, Istanbul, “Irfan Onurmen” at C24 Gallery, New York, USA (2012), “Dis-order” at Katara Art Center in Doha, Qatar (2012). His works has been exhibited at several international art fairs including The Armory Show and Art Dubai in Spring 2012. Irfan Onurmen’s works take part in many important international and local collections, including Istanbul Modern. He lives and works in Istanbul.
