My work aims to explore the possibilities of figurative painting, starting from an interest in referential play and a marked inclination towards accidents in the creative process. This convergence leads to investigating new ways of understanding painting. Using error as a starting point implies developing a whole series of gestures between the absurd and the unproductive, which invite questioning of the act and the pictorial medium itself. I am interested in everything related to narratives of failure and the figure of the loser, as well as the use of humor as a resource when facing different issues in artistic practice.
In this search for new ways of understanding figurative painting – understood as referring to the idea of a referent – my interest has focused in recent years on generating a painting that dialogues and coexists with other disciplines while maintaining its plastic condition.
