Johanna K Becker was born in 1980 in Worms, Germany. She graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland with a bachelor's degree in 2002 and read a master's degree in art history and cultural anthropology in 2007. From 2007 to 2016, she followed artist Cornelius Völker in academic research at the Münster Academy of Arts in Germany.
