Klavdij Sluban (1963) is a French photographer of Slovenian origin. He is developing a rigorous and coherent body of work, nourished by literature, never inspired by immediate and sensational events. Sluban questions the contemporary world throughout a strong personal photographic writing, dark yet poetic. He works on long term projects exploring places where time and space are condensed: countries scarred by history, islands or jails. Since 1995 he has been photographing teenagers in prison around the world. He has exhibited his work around the world and has received numerous awards – among others the Prix de Photographie de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts in 2015 and the Leica award in 2004.
