Marrinon’s modestly scaled statuettes, (as that word suggests, the statuette is a physically reduced form of figure sculpture); none of which are more than 100 centimetres in height, are set on tabletops.

Since 1986, Marrinon has shown extensively at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney, and Tolarno Galleries, Melbourne. She has held two major survey exhibitions, at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, 1987, and the Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, 2001; has undertaken Australia Council studio residencies in Paris, 1991, and New York, 1997; and was a recipient of the Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship, 2001. Let Her Try, a monograph on her work, was published in 2008.
