Michelle Nikou’s practice focuses on the transformation and symbolism of objects and forms. She coaxes everyday items from unlikely materials such as bronze, concrete and molten lead. Light bulbs, florist foam and neon tube provide additional media for her unique pieces. Her work is familiar and yet unsettling. Commonplace items are made to appear unconventional or acquire peculiar associations.
