Mike Glier’s paintings demonstrate wild abandon and consummate craft in harmony. He pushes paint in incredible and varied ways that result in locked-in compositions, carefully coordinated color, and a rich treasure trove of textures and marks that convey, most of all the intense pleasure of painting. Art historically his paintings are a novel synthesis of techniques lifted from plien-air Impressionism, and postmodern permeability in a combination that makes them utterly original.…

Mike Glier has exhibited at the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. Both the Drawing Center, NY and The Tyler Gallery, Temple University, have sponsored national touring shows of his painting and his work has been the subject of two survey exhibitions. He is the recipient of a National Endowment Grant, Awards in the Visual Arts 9, and a Guggenheim Fellowship in painting. During the last decade, Glier has been pursued a global, plein air, painting project. He is a Professor of Art at Williams College.
