b. 1956, JapanBorn in Tokyo in 1956. He completed the master’s program in oil painting at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. O JUN’s paintings often feature scenes that evoke fragments of familiar experiences or sounds, symbolic imagery, and a strong use of blank space on the canvas. Working with a variety of materials, including oil paints, pencils, crayons, pigments, and watercolours, he creates unfamiliar worlds through his distinctive approach to painting.
