ROOSMARIJN PALLANDT
Roosmarijn Pallandt’s works are the result of the correspondence between the immaterial that remains and its registration, the intangible that is behind natural and spiritual manifestations and the subtle and expressive energy behind human interactions in certain sites with specific, ritual or natural charges. Her pieces are the formal and coherent unity of spatio-temporal processes and relationships that the artist establishes with places and communities, articulated by a multifaceted and interdisciplinary formal language, often consisting of installations made up of sound, photography, analog film and textile sculpture.
Pallandt has travelled to remote parts of the world, recording ephemeral soundscapes during various events and ceremonies, whose waves are reproduced to show the self-regulating complexity and coexistence of different displays of energy in specific sites, offering the viewer the possibility of momentarily inhabiting their internal textures and fibres. Sound, as a universal language and as the basis and pillar of her work, produces a gravitational pull in immersive works that arouse a sense of expansive space, maintaining links to the originalevents.
The weight of her work consists in the transmission, through art, of the direct, deep, complex, sensitive and multidimensional experience, developed during indefinite times, determined only by the particular rhythms of each situation. Her works are the present record of a significant moment, in harmony with another space. Roosmarijn Pallandt graduated with Cum Laude distinction in her Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts. In 2005 she won the Milk Way Award for the most innovative work and was awarded the Hariban de Benrido Award in 2018. Roosmarijn’s work has been exhibited in venues such as the Museo de Arte de Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico (2021); Kunming Contemporary Gallery, Yunnan, China (2020); Lumen Festival, London, UK (2020); Alice Springs Festival, Australia (2020); and Kyotographie, Kyoto Japan (2017), among others.
