Shaun O'Connor's work meditates on the temporary signs, inscriptions and behaviors that activate public space.
Anonymous scrawlings of amateur graffiti writers, pseudo gang monikers, police arrest sheets, discarded prayers and crude blue collar handbill advertising serve as starting points for a series of meticulously modelled sculptures and studies on paper.
Works in this exhibition posit astute reflections on the mark making habits of people and the minor histories of the various city environs in which O’Connor has lived and worked in to date.
