YGOR LANDARIN
b. 1995, BrazilLandarin was born in Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul, and was raised in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. He graduated from the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro in 2018, where he was also selected for the program Formação e Deformação [Formation and Deformation]. His artistic research engages with memories and visual heritages connected to the city where he grew up, developing a poetics that brings art and archaeology into close dialogue through sculpture, embroidery, and experimentation with materials such as sand, porcelain clay and cement. His works often create abstractions related to shell mounds and sambaquis, investigating layers of time, permanence, and transformation.
Since 2017, he has collaborated with the artist Brígida Baltar (1959–2022), later joining the team responsible for the conservation, memory, and continuity of projects at the Instituto Brígida Baltar. A key reference in his trajectory, the artist directly influenced the incorporation of embroidery into Landarin’s practice.
Ygor Landarin has participated in artistic residencies such as FAAP (São Paulo, 2019) and Domo Damo (São Paulo, 2025). Selected group exhibitions include: 39th Panorama of Brazilian Art: ‘After It’s All Said’ (MAM-SP, 2026); ‘A ética e a estética na era da imagem’ [Ethics and Aesthetics in the Age of the Image][0]; ‘Manguezal’ [Mangrove][1]; the Coimbra Biennial (Portugal, 2024). In 2019 and 2021, he held solo exhibitions at Galeria Inox, in Rio de Janeiro, titled ‘Ano azul’ [Blue Year] and ‘Corpo Contido’ [Contained Body], respectively. The artist’s works are also part of the collection of the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) and in 2026, he was nominated for the Prêmio Pipa.
