Night and Day, the idea of inseparable opposites that coexist, both complementing and contrasting with the other. Derived from film, photos, advertisements, wallpaper, and art historical references, Thiele’s work becomes at once about the fleeting, the missing, and the unattainable while, as paintings, simultaneously denying this notion.

Kristen Thiele was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and currently lives and works in Miami, FL. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1995 and her MFA from Miami International University in 2012. Thiele co-runs Bridge Red Studios/Project Space with her father Robert Thiele, exhibiting longstanding South Florida artists.
