Press Release

See contemplative art by Bob and Roberta Smith RA.

Bringing together older and more recent works by Bob & Roberta Smith, this selling show invites us to experience the world through contemplative art.

Small panels and placards featuring the artists’ recognisable bold words are displayed alongside new paintings of Ramsgate port, where they have their studio. Each painting talks to the other across the borders of their individual edges and poetically looking out across the border of the English Channel; the works literally and non-literally talking to one another.

The Royal Academy of Arts (RA) is a historic art institution based at Burlington House on Piccadilly in London’s Mayfair, a short walk from Green Park and Piccadilly Circus. Founded in 1768, it has a unique status as an independent, privately funded, artist‑led institution dedicated to promoting the creation, enjoyment, and appreciation of the visual arts. The RA is home to Britain’s longest‑established art school, the Royal Academy Schools, and is renowned for championing both art and architecture through exhibitions, teaching, and public debate.
