Sue Waymouth has been named Fair Director of the Aotearoa Art Fair.
Waymouth was the VIP Liaisons Manager for the fair's 2024 edition, which took place at Auckland's Viaduct Events Centre in April. She has also worked in corporate marketing roles and served as Co-Chair of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki Contemporary Benefactors.
The fair's co-owner, Tim Etchells, said Waymouth's 'background and passion for the arts make her an ideal leader, and we are confident that the fair will continue to thrive and elevate the art fair experience for both exhibitors and visitors alike.'
'I really enjoyed working with the new owners of the Aotearoa Art Fair, and I saw first-hand how their experience in running Art Fairs all around the world helped to make the 2024 Fair so successful,' Waymouth said in a statement.
Some 35 galleries took part in Aotearoa Art Fair this year, down slightly from 40 participants at The Cloud in March last year, when the fair was run by North Port Events.
Highlights included '[Head]case' ceramic sculptures and tarot cards by Julia Morison, Gregor Kregar's wiggly steel sculpture Infinite Loop (2024), paintings by Hamish Coleman, and a shellfish tableau by Dr. P. —[O]
