Among our top lots at Christie’s 20th/21st Century Sale is a compelling painting by Victor Man (D with Raven, 2015) alongside Freud‘s Girl with Closed Eyes—a portrait from 1986–87 that has not passed hands for 35 years.
Also up is Bacon‘s Triptych 1986–7—a highly anticipated lot, no doubt helped by the current Royal Academy show in London—with a pre-sale estimate of £35-55M.
Finally, Stanley Whitney‘s impressive painting Great Balls of Fire (2005) will be sure to sail past its high estimate of £600,000 considering his auction successes last year.
All four works are up for auction at Christie’s 20th/21st Century London Evening Sale on 1 March.
