Jed Morse, Chief Curator, Nasher Sculpture Center, talks about the work of Eduardo Chillida (1924–2002), Spain’s foremost sculptor of the twentieth century. Widely recognised for monumental iron and steel public sculptures displayed across the globe, Chillida is also celebrated for a wholly distinctive use of materials such as stone, chamotte clay, and paper to engage concerns both earthly and metaphysical.

This film includes works from Memory, Mind, Matter: The Sculpture of Eduardo Chillida at Meadows Museum, Dallas TX, and Chillida’s public works Silent Music II (Música Callada II) (1983) at Nasher Sculpture Center, De Música (1989)—noted for being the largest of his works in the US—at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas, and Song of Strength (Abesti Gogora V) (1966) at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
