London is brimming with great painting shows, and Konstantinos Argyroglou's solo show, Re-touching Memory (19 January–4 March 2023) at Projektraum London at Claas Reiss is up there with the best.
The London-based Greek artist graduated with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London last year. Childhood memories are very much the focus of his extraordinary new paintings—rendered in watercolour and oils, the works have an ethereal quality that resonates with the haziness of our early memories.
Looking at Argyroglou's self-portraits as a young child, one can't help but sense the face of an older boy—something the artist attributes to his anxiety around ageing.
