_"Light, Of Course, is the Left Hand of Darkness and Darkness is the Right Hand of Light" - The Left Hand of Darkness, Ursula Le Guin. _
__As winter envelopes the Northern Hemisphere, we are increasingly reminded of the importance of light within the scheme of our existence. Days grow shorter and shadows deeper, more and more we turn to artificial illumination to fill the hours no longer lit by the sun. For this exhibition the gallery will be keeping the lights off, choosing instead to focus on our relationship to darkness as one of a continuum of perception. As the shadows and reflections shift with the day, the viewer's attention is directed away from the object they are looking at and toward their own perceptual process, highlighting the unlikely beauty and poetry of viewing through the dim winter light.
