Press Release

ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL presents Form of Living, a solo exhibition of LEE Jeongbae (b. 1974), on view from February 25 to April 18, 2026. LEE has long translated fragments of nature discovered in the urban environment—sunlight between buildings, expanses of sky, and the contours of mountains—into simplified, geometrically structured compositions using industrial materials such as resin and aluminum. This exhibition highlights the expansion of his formal inquiry into furniture, presenting how his sculptural sensibility extends into the sphere of everyday living under the concept of “furniture made by an artist.” Viewing furniture not merely as functional objects but as “usable forms,” LEE explores how art can operate within daily life. Ultimately, the exhibition proposes a “beauty that is used,” traversing the boundary between art and the everyday, and inviting an experience in which living itself becomes an extension of aesthetics.

About the Artist

LEE Jeongbae (b. 1974) creates works that mirror the image of nature among the city’s landscapes, which are privatized and tailored to conform to human needs and desires. Prior to this, the artist experimented with various mediums, including painting, photography, video, and installation. In 2016, LEE began to take an interest in representing deteriorating landscapes that had gradually lost all original meaning through the encroachment of capitalism. These segmented images, which become objets, each act as a landscape that portrays various scenes from nature. LEE Jeongbae’s works, which examine the daily life of the city, capture fragments of mountains, rivers, and the sky that peer through the cityscape. These images are separated by geometric forms and expressed through the use of artificial materials such as FRP and aluminum panels. Nature, which has been torn apart by capitalism and materiality, is recomposed by LEE into atypical forms and painted over with color. Completed through a delicate process of painting the surface of the sculpture hundreds of times, these works represent new abstract landscapes expressed through LEE’s perspective.

About the Gallery

ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL opened its doors in Sogyeok-dong in 2006. Since then, it has established its foothold as a leading contemporary art gallery in Korea and across Asia, continuing to be at the forefront of the international art scene through its efficient representation system and bold exhibitions. In March 2014, ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL relocated near the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. In April 2018, ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL RYSE HOTEL, a second exhibition space in Seoul, opened in the Hongdae area. Running concurrently with its primary location until November 2019, the project space aimed to mirror the experimental spirit of the neighbourhood through its innovative programming. In 2022, ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL ended its Sogyeok-dong era. However, the various experimentation and ventures carried out in the gallery’s previous spaces continue to shape its future at its current location in Wonseo-dong, which reopened in February 2023. Through the preemptive discovery of young artists, steady support of represented artists, and the realisation of meaningful and original exhibitions, ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL aims to continually grow and contribute to the growth of the contemporary art scene in Korea.
