Press Release

Curated by 52 Walker senior director Ebony L. Haynes, So let us all be citizens too explores and celebrates the legacy of American artist Bob Thompson (1937–1966), whose dynamic figurative style marked a significant turn in painting during the postwar period. This group exhibition joins contemporary international artists of several generations whose aesthetic affinities to Thompson are both discernible and surprising and includes paintings and works on paper by Emma Amos, Betty Blayton, Beverly Buchanan, Lewis Hammond, Marcus Jahmal, Danielle McKinney, Cassi Namoda, Naudline Pierre, and Devin Troy Strother, among others.

The companion survey, Bob Thompson: So let us all be citizens, will be on view concurrently at 52 Walker New York.
