Galeria Plan B is pleased to announce the group exhibition Basel By Berlin with works of Ion Bitzan, Adrian Ghenie, Ciprian Muresan, Iulia Nistor, Serban Savu and Ran Zhang, to open on Wednesday, the 17th of June 2020.
Basel By Berlin is the analogue counterpart to Art Basel's Digital Online Viewing Room and it is an initiative of Berlin galleries that stems from the desire to create a context in which the physical experience of art is maintained as a social space. On this occasion, Galeria Plan B will exhibit a selection of works by six artists from its program, which can be viewed both in the gallery space and on the Art Basel website. Beyond their different approaches–from painting and photography (Adrian Ghenie, Iulia Nistor, Serban Savu, Ran Zhang) to sculpture, drawing and installation (Ion Bitzan, Ciprian Muresan)–what brings these artists together is their interest to explore through art the social and cultural contexts they come from.
Plan B was founded in 2005 in Cluj, Romania, on the initiative of Mihai Pop and Adrian Ghenie
as a production and exhibition space for contemporary art. The gallery program focuses on
researching Romanian art from the past 50 years, highlighting the work of remarkable artists
who have had little to no international exposure.
