Toy world is Farah Al Qasimi’s first solo exhibition at Galerie Krinzinger. Her work traverses complex intersections of authenticity and artifice, themes made urgent in an age often dubbed as being “post-truth”. This ambiguity forms the basis of Qasimi’s exploration into the nature of imagery in modern discourse, especially in relation to war, power, and identity Central to Qasimi’s exhibition is the notion of the “actor”—a figure who performs while concealing true intentions behind a facade. In warfare, such masks become strategic, with authenticity itself manipulated to serve ideological narratives. As images shape beliefs, they in turn, reshape perceptions and the truth becomes elusive, filtered through subjective lenses and layered media. Qasimi’s art juxtaposes staged and candid moments to challenge viewers’ perceptions, echoing online experiences where truth and fiction blur. Examining structures of power, gender, (post) coloniality and consumer aesthetics in an interconnected world, her work often conveys an uncanny geography, both specific and placeless_._
