In 2014, Fabienne Verdier was invited by the Julliard School in New York, the famous performing arts conservatory, to explore the interaction between music and painting. This experiment has now been repeated and developed with the voice. While listening in her studio to some of Mozart’s most famous arias, the artist allowed her body to respond with the most appropriate gesture. Spontaneously, she produced a vortex, the spiralling dynamic present in many natural phenomena. The result is a series of 15 engravings created by the artist during the lockdown. The energy and clarity of Mozart can be seen in the generous yet firm brushstrokes of Fabienne Verdier.
