Our presentation for Art Basel Miami 2024 anticipates an exhibition that will be held in our Edinburgh gallery early next year. The starting point for the exhibition is Pierre Bonnard’s final diary entry, written shortly before his death in 1947:

“I should like to present myself to the painters of the year 2000 with the wings of a butterfly.”

All of the invited artists have thought about Bonnard in different ways, perhaps using his work a little, or at least thinking about it in relation to their own, though what they do with those thoughts is very different.
