Paul Lee was born in London in 1974, living and working in New York since 2001. He was artist in residence at Chinati Foundation, Marfa, USA (2007). Lee's work has been included in the recent exhibitions Absentee Landlord, curated by John Waters, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2011-2012); Lavender (solo exhibition), Maccarone, New York (2010); Moon River (solo exhibition), Stuart Shave/Modern Art, London (2011); Flaca / Tom Humphreys, Portikus, Frankfurt (2011); Emerald, Maccarone, New York (2013). Forthcoming exhibitions include Outside The Lines at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston from October 31.

About the Artist

Paul Lee works in sculpture, collage, and video to created assembled works from mundane and domestic objects. Over the course of his career, Lee has crafted a meticulous visual language that includes objects such as tambourines, lightbulbs, and empty soda cans. Reinterpreted and reassembled, Lee pays homage to these objects’ original function, presenting them in forms that conjure bodily connections between object and user.
