Press Release

The Columns Gallery is proud to present Memory and Metamorphosis, the first solo exhibition of Shourouk Rhaiem in Singapore. This exhibition marks a pivotal moment in her artistic journey, inviting audiences to witness the alchemy of transforming mundane objects into extraordinary creations.

Rhaiem masterfully reimagines everyday items such as Ricoré coffee cans, dish soap bottles, and perfume containers, adorning them with Swarovski crystals and other luxurious materials. These transformed pieces are not only visually striking but also deeply personal, embodying her memories and a longing for familial harmony. Central to the exhibition is the Ricoré coffee can, a recurring motif that symbolizes the artist’s childhood dream of an ideal family life.

Memory and Metamorphosis delves into the interplay between personal history and collective memory, highlighting how ordinary objects can hold profound emotional and cultural significance. Through her art, Rhaiem invites us to discover the extraordinary potential of the everyday, transforming seemingly insignificant items into bold, radiant expressions of identity and aspiration.

Shourouk Rhaiem’s work transcends traditional boundaries, bridging fashion, design, and fine art. While her creations have adorned icons such as Philippe Stark, Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, and Sarah Jessica Parker, this exhibition unveils a new dimension of her creative vision—one that redefines luxury and materiality in contemporary art.
