The Page Gallery presents 白骨銅 BAEK GOL DONG, a solo exhibition by Kuho Jung (b. 1962), on view June 26 to July 24, 2026. Featuring 15 new works from the artist’s Coexistence series, the exhibition takes its title from a compound of baekgol, referring to the skeletal frame of a piece of furniture, and dong, denoting the metal character of its fittings. Together, the title points to the relationship between structure and ornament in traditional wooden furniture, and by extension, between function and value.
Throughout his practice, Kuho Jung has explored how seemingly disparate domains, such as tradition and modernity, function and value, and craftsmanship and artistic authorship, can be brought into meaningful dialogue within a single structural framework. Emerging from this inquiry, Coexistence suggests that historical heritage and contemporary materials need not stand in opposition, but can instead coexist in a complementary relationship. In this exhibition, Jung layers distinct moments in time and value within a single space, presenting scenes in which matter and memory, function and aesthetic sensibility, are each transformed through the other.
Rather than seeking to restore tradition or reinterpret it through a contemporary lens, 白骨銅 BAEK GOL DONG reveals how past and present can converge to open onto a new sensibility attuned to the future.
