Surface plays a central role throughout this online exclusive exhibition. Wachholz and Zumbe approach abstraction as a perceptual exercise, where colour, rhythm, and repetition invite sustained attention. Their works reward sensitivity to subtle shifts in tone and structure. In dialogue with this, Freter and Rusch construct layered visual fields that hover between figuration and abstraction, suggesting fragments of narrative without resolving them.

Questions of presence, identity, and visibility emerge strongly in the photographic and figurative works of Gxekwa, Nixon, and Davids. Each artist considers how the subject is seen, framed, or obscured, whether through intimate portraiture, performative gestures, or carefully staged compositions.
