Brittany Fanning Biography

Brittany Fanning (b. 1991) is an artist who earned a BFA in Visual Arts from the University of North Georgia in the United States. She concluded nearly seven years of activity in South Korea from 2016 to 2022 and is currently works in LA. Fanning’s artistic narrative revolves around the experiences of frequent exposure from natural disasters, which became the main storyline in her humorously genre paintings. From her childhood in the Southeastern United States, she was frequently exposed to hazardous environments such as volcanic eruptions, wildfires, hurricanes, and wildlife intrusions into residential areas.

During her residency in Korea, from 2016 to 2022, Fanning encountered the global COVID-19 pandemic, adding a new dimension of disaster previously unexperienced. The artist portrays relaxed daily life scenes against the backdrop of disaster scenarios, imbuing her works with a hope that viewers confront unexpected intrusions like natural disasters, illnesses, and accidents with equanimity and composure. Her paintings highlight scenic elements of the locations, interior decor, fashion of individuals, and culinary delights, capturing the romantic impressions of everyday life separate from the serious situations depicted in her art.
