Doreen Reid Nakamarra (c.1955–2009), a celebrated Ngaanyatjarra artist, was known for vibrant, shimmering paintings of Kiwirrkurra Country featuring vibrating chevrons and fine dotting, a direction she embraced from 2005 after her husband urged her to paint his Country, inspired by Nakamarra’s desire “for whitefellas to see that country like I do.”
