HENRIK EIBEN
b. 1975, JapanOn paper, on the wall and in the sculptural space Henrik Eiben combines diverse materials such as wood, copper, fabric and glass to create minimalist and at the same time lively moving compositions. Lightness and the pleasurable use of color characterise the artist’s works. But instead of just applying paint directly, Henrik Eiben uses fine fabrics as well as acrylic and mouth-blown glass for his precise colour settings. His works show a virtuosity of materials and at the same time negotiate the expansion of the medium of painting. Rigid definitions and categories serve merely as starting points in the creative process of discovery.
