Juan Zamora (b. 1982) was born in Madrid, who holds a bachelor degree of fine art from Complutense University of Madrid, and a master degree of fine art from the European University. He currently works as a professor of art, design and architecture in AKI University of Enschede, Netherlands and the European University of Madrid. He was honoured with the National Spanish Awards Princess Of Girona Of Arts & Literature in 2017.
Zamora used to participate in renowned international biennales, among which are Martinez Guerricabeitia Biennial, Spain (2019), The Lagos Biennial, Nigeria (2019), Anocero Biennial, Coimbra, Portugal(2019), The Art Sanya Biennial, Hainan, China (2013), and Manifesta 8 -The European Biennial Of Contemporary Art, Murcia, Spain (2010). Since 2006, he has exhibited in Hirshhorn Museum And Sculpture Garden, Washington, USA, Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, Serbia, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Australia, and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul, Korea. Zamora was invited to have residency in New York, Johannesburg, Amsterdam, and Venice.
He is working in the interdisciplinary space of visual art, music, science, education and social practice through an ecological perspective. As an artist, he uses natural materials, phenomena and forms in a way that allow him to attach new poetic symbolism and significance to the processes of matter, presenting the land itself as an essential source of art, life and knowledge. His main objective is to take risks and embrace challenges, and to propose new ways of reconsidering our relationship with nature; to develop creative proposals that, in form and content, propose an alternative, symbolic and practical way to co-work with the environment.
