Kirstin Berg’s work combines elements of painting, collage and sculpture resulting in monumental expressionist assemblages of charcoaled and pigmented paper. Central to Berg’s practice is the need to establish order from chaos; to make sense of a world where every landscape (social, political, personal) rests on shaky ground.
Kirstin Berg has had a string of solo exhibitions in Australia since 2000 as well as in Berlin (2005), Barcelona (2007) and Trondheim, Norway (2008).
Berg has been a finalist in art prizes such as the MPRG Art Award and the Hutchins Prize (both in Australia) and her work has been collected by Artbank, Parliament House in Canberra and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
