MIZUMOTO TOMOHISA
Japanese artist Mizumoto Tomohisa has been dedicated to exploring the curvealinear potential of metal sculpture for over ten years. His sculptures break the traditional boundaries of the vertical and horizontal and find the place in between. Often employing organically inspired shapes, Tomohisa's sculptures are harmonious in form and modern in material. His recent work seems to defy gravity as small silver balls perch on a red base, resulting in a sublimely energized moment. Other works have been described as aggressive balancing acts between shapes and forms that seem to resist the unusual positions they have been placed in.
Tomohisa has exhibited widely throughout Japan and has won several exhibition prizes at the prestigious Kyoto Museum of Art and Osaka Municipal Museum. Widely collected in Japan, Tomohisa's works vary in scale and have been displayed in outdoor exhibitions and private gardens.
