Muŋgarawuy Yunupiŋu (c.1907–1979), a senior Yolŋu ceremonial leader and foundational Gumatj painter from Yirrkala in north‑east Arnhem Land, was a key custodian of Yirritja law whose influential bark paintings helped shape mid‑twentieth‑century Yolŋu art and early land‑rights advocacy.
