Nugent Welch Biography

Nugent Welch was a New Zealand war artist in Europe during the First World War. Returning to Wellington in 1919, he established a reputation for his impressionist landscapes, capturing the changing light of favourite subjects such as Cape Terawhiti.

Welch attended the Wellington Technical College (1895-1896), and has work in the collection of the Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.
