Seen by many in the art world as being somewhere at the crossroads of Arte Povera and Miminalism, Osman Dinç describes his general approach to his artistic practice and creative process as a three-dimensional examination of real space. His works bring many figural issues to the fore – from gravity and balance to suitability and durability. Dinç is concerned with the concept of construction and deconstruction, which he sees as embodying humanity throughout the ages, and which is reflected in his works.
He has exhibited extensively over the past four decades in France, Germany and Turkey, including in Bursa, Ankara, Istanbul and Balikesir in the latter. His most recent exhibitions include Theorem at Pi Artworks, Istanbul and Les Jeux De l’Eau Et du Miel, a two-person show with Andre Guenoun at Galerie Agart, Amilly. Recent group exhibitions include Fair Signe at the Maison d’art contemporain Chailloux, MACC, Fresnes, France and Cosmic Touch at Espace Art Roch, Paris, both in France.
Dinç has won numerous awards, including the 2002 Sculptor of the Year from Ankara’s Art Foundation, Turkey, as well as 1993 UNESCO Sculptor of the Year, awarded in Paris, France. He has also been thrice awarded the State Museum of Turkey’s Sculpture and Painting Award.
His works can be found in public and private collections both in Turkey and France, including the Istanbul Modern Collection, Merkez Bank Collection and the Ankara-Devlet Painting Sculpture Museum in Turkey; as well asand the art collection of the Municipality of Paris, the Cartier Fondation, the Musée de Annecy collection, CIRVA Marseille, Centre National de le photographie Paris, Ville D'Ivre-sur-Seine, Ville de Gennevilliers, Ville de Bourges and Dèpartement de Chèr, in France, among others.
Based in Paris, where he has lived and worked since 1977, Osman Dinç taught at the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Art de Bourges from between 1990–2011.
