As Len Lye, arguably New Zealand’s most internationally acclaimed artist, was interested in composing motion, so too Peter Roche, who has been described as 'a worthy successor to Len Lye in the field of kinetic sculpture', creates an art of motion.

In 2011, he installed a major large-scale neon light work, Saddleblaze, at the Gibbs Farm on the Kaipara Harbour — a site fast becoming one of the world’s leading sculpture parks. Roche has exhibited in all major public galleries in New Zealand and was included in the 1st Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane, and the 1st Korean Biennale of Contemporary Art.
