Recognised as one of Australia’s most significant and accomplished abstract artists, Jacks stylistic variations on simple geometric and abstract shapes show a maturity and understanding that has strong origins towards the work of the international abstract ‘colour field’ movement.
Born in Melbourne in 1943, Jacks studied both sculpture and painting at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, before relocating to Canada and the United States where he participated in the conceptually driven and minimalist art movements that would shape his artistic career.
