RUSLI
1916-2005, IndonesiaRusli was known as a painter that effectively used lines and contrasting colors on canvas. He studied at the Santiniketan University of Rabindaranath Tagore, India. During five years, he studied pure art, sculpture, and Eastern art philosophy. Upon his return from India, Rusli was active in education and joined the Seniman Masyarakat group and S.I.M. (Indonesian Young Artists), Yogyakarta. Rusli paved the way for the development of abstract figurative painting in Indonesia.
