Melbourne-based artist Vipoo Srivilasa was born in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1969. Vipoo works mostly in ceramics, exploring the inherent commonalities between the cultures of his native homeland, Thailand, and his adoptive home, Australia. His works are theatrical, flamboyant, humorous and always enriched with an inherent search for beauty. Many of his themes draw on his bicultural experiences and reference his place between the two worlds.
Vipoo came to Australia in 1997 to further his studies. As well as a Bachelor of Art (Ceramics) from Rangsit University, Bangkok, Srivilasa holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Ceramics from Monash University, Victoria and a Master of Fine Art & Design (Ceramics) from the University of Tasmania. His work features in many private collections in Australia and internationally.
