Alserkal Art Week will take place in the Al Quoz industrial area of Dubai from 20–26 November.
Its programming includes the exhibition On This Land, a response to the crisis in Gaza that is being presented by The Palestinian Museum, the Barjeel Art Foundation, and the Alserkal Arts Foundation.
The exhibition opens on Sunday 19 November at the Concrete exhibition space.
The Art Week also includes an intervention by Hazem Harb, who will create a charcoal on paper work. According to Alserkal, the medium ‘holds profound significance for Harb [because] the black carbon dust echoes that which now settles in his home, Gaza’.
Other programming includes a series of talks curated by Protocinema’s Mari Spirito and a performance by the Sima Dance Company.
More than 15 new gallery exhibitions are opening for the Art Week including a solo show by Afra Al Dhaheri at Green Art Gallery, works by Nima Nabavi and Jason Seife at The Third Line, and a group show focused on environmental issues at Gazelli Art House. —[O]
